1. People are trading in older rarely used cars for cars they are FAR more likely to drive more, faster, longer…thus offsetting the emissions savings the program was supposed to achieve…not to mention it barely makes a dent in our total emissions.
2. So much for American car makers.  The top 10 “clunkers” are American made and cheaper, foreign cars are the ones being purchased.
3. Barack Obama is an idiot.

In case you haven’t heard the news, the administration’s wondrous “Cash for Clunkers” program that has cost the American people $1 billion already has run out of money.

Besides the fact that paying $1 billion for old useless pieces of crap (that we’re going to do what with??) is the worst idea ever and an even worse use of taxpayer money, the main problem with this program is that it was slated to last for another 2 months and 3 weeks.  That’s right…the $1 billion allotted for the program was projected to be enough for 3 months worth of people not reading the fine print and not realizing that dealerships already marked UP their vehicles to achieve the same profit margins.

But Obama, yet again, showed how green he really is.  Not only is the program now bankrupt, but talk is going around about wasting another $2 billion on it.  My question is…if the projections for funding  this very simple, very small was off by 95.6% (90 days worth of funding lasting only 4.4% of that actual time)…how much are the projections for the extremely complex system of socialized medicine off?

To fund the “Cash for Clunkers” program at the rate it has been drained for the last 4 days, it would require the Fed to bankroll another $22.5 billion in funding.  I don’t even want to calculate the numbers for how much they could be (and probably are) off concerning ObamaScare…the numbers would likely be astronomical and debt lasting into the 2100s.

Two words: fiscal conservatism.
